What kind of car do I need?
Nearly any vehicle works, as long as it's wider than it is tall and passes tech inspection. We've seen sedans, trucks, sports cars, and dedicated race cars all compete in the same event.
What does the tech inspection cover?
The inspection makes sure your car is safe to put on course. Key items:
- Interior: No loose items, floor mats removed, battery secured.
- Wheels: All lug nuts present and tight.
- Mechanical: Functional throttle return spring, firm brake pedal, no wheel bearing play.
- Tires: No exposed cords, adequate tread.
- Safety: Factory seat belts or harnesses, in working order.
- Identification: Class and number, large and clearly visible on each side of the car.

Do I have to be an SCCA member?
No — but membership pays for itself quickly. Non-members pay $20 more per event (or $40 more for a two-day weekend). After about four events, membership is cheaper.

How do I pick a class?
If you're new, ask an experienced driver or use the SCCA Classification Assistant. Stock cars usually fall into one of the Street classes (AS through HS). Modified cars fall into Street Touring, Street Prepared, and so on based on what's been changed.

What's the co-driver number rule?
When two drivers share a car, one uses numbers 1–99 and the co-driver uses that number plus 100. Example: driver 27, co-driver 127. This keeps the timing system happy.
What helmet do I need?
A Snell-rated helmet (SA or M). Motorcycle helmets are acceptable if they carry Snell certification. We usually have a few loaner helmets at registration for new drivers.
How long does an event last?
Usually a full day. Registration opens around 7:30 AM, drivers' meeting around 9:00, runs start around 9:30, and we're typically wrapped up mid-to-late afternoon.
Where do I see results?
Results are posted on this site under Results within a day or two of the event. Live timing during the event is available at /live-timing when active.
